The English Wikipedia page for the Junta de Damas, a century women’s civic group in Spain founded in 1787, was lacking a sufficient amount of information when compared to the Spanish Wikipedia page for the group. The goal of this research project was to not only translate the Spanish Wikipedia page into English, but to also add supplemental information about the contributions of the group. In order to complete this goal, we first translated the preexisting Spanish Wikipedia page into English. Then, we conducted research on the group’s most significant contributions to 18th and 19th century Spanish society. Through research meetings we deliberated what information was necessary for the article. We were able to produce and publish an updated English Wikipedia article that included an overview and sections on the philanthropic work and leadership of the early years of Junta de Damas. We concluded with a section on further readings, and created a list of references. This update provided a significant increase in available information in English on this subject.
