This talk will present a website that was created as final project for the course German 485 “The Wall – a Concrete History.” It discusses the different ways in which young people in East Germany protested the government. The motivation for protest arose not only from the direct oppression, but also out of concern over environmental issues and fear of World War III in Europe in the 1980s. Protest forms could be overt on the streets on more conspiratorial through meetings under the roof of the protestant church.
